Tecno Spark Go 2024 Review: Twin Brother Of Infinix Smart 8 HD?
2023 was a memorable year for Tecno Mobile in India. While the brand has mainly operated in the budget segment until this year, it will enter the premium segment in 2023 with its flagship products, including the Phantom X2 series and sophisticated devices. However, that doesn't mean the brand has completely shifted its focus away from the budget range. The year ended with the launch of the Tecno Spark Go 2024 priced at Rs 7,499 for the base 3GB + 64GB model. Today we'll take a look at the same model and find out if it's worth it.
Appearance and design
The Tecno Spark Go 2024 has a similar design to the Infinix Smart 8 HD that we reviewed recently. Both have similar features, but more on that later. The version of the Spark Go 2024 that we got our hands on comes in Mystery White, and as we said with the Smart 8 HD, the phone's design is reminiscent of an iPhone, but the branding touches make it glossy rather than glossy. so it looks like a smartphone under Rs 10000.
In recent years, the design of entry-level smartphones has improved. Spark Go 2024 is proof of that. It's easy to grip and helps keep the sides flat. The white color gives off a golden hue when light shines on it.
The button on the right is a pleasure to press. One feature that differentiates the Spark Go 2024 from the Smart 8 HD is the presence of stereo speakers (whereas the Infinix device has mono speakers). These speakers are definitely louder than the Smart 8 HD, but the quality isn't much different. Overall, the design is the highlight of the Tecno Spark Go 2024.
Meanwhile, the display sports a 6.56-inch HD+ (720 x 1612 pixels) Dot Notch display with a 90Hz refresh rate. While the display is largely similar to the Smart 8 HD display, there are a few issues that caught our attention. I'm not sure if this is a problem specific to our device, but there was a yellow tint at the bottom of the screen that wouldn't go away even after fiddling with the display settings. His eyesight has deteriorated due to this problem. However, the colors are vivid but same as Infinix Smart 8 HD. The brightness level is too low for outdoor use.
Software and performance
Unisoc T606 SoC powers the Tecno phone. The device has internal storage expandable up to 128GB and up to 8GB of RAM with additional virtual RAM. The model we received has 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Having the Infinix Smart 8 HD as a comparison, we can confirm that the software and performance of the two devices are very similar, which is not a good sign.
The Spark Go 2024 has the same Magic Ring feature as the Infinix Smart 8 HD, but with the name Dynamic Port. If you don't already know, the Dynamic Port feature is a cloned version of Apple's Dynamic Island feature that intuitively displays various system information. It gives you facial recognition animations, battery percentage while charging, call notifications and more. can show
Other than that, the feature set of the two devices is mostly similar with some changes in the software interface. For example, the quick settings panel on Tecno phones is slightly different from Infinix devices with variations in icon design. Performance-wise, the experience is similar, but not identical.
For some reason, the Tecno Spark Go 2024 felt a little flat at first, but after pushing it to its limits, we realized the phone needed more room to breathe. Other features of the phone like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS worked without any issues.
Backup battery
This device is backed by a 5000mAh battery that supports 10W charging. Charging speed is very slow and almost same as Infinix Smart 8 HD at around 2.5 hours. Battery backup is also similar, I also use it to check email, browse Chrome, chat on Telegram and make some calls. The phone can last a day or more without breaking a sweat.
Camera
For photos and videos, the Tecno device sports a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 lens, AI sensor and dual-LED flash. There is also an 8-megapixel selfie camera with flash on the front.
So far you have seen that the Tecno Spark Go 2024 is basically the same phone as the Infinix Smart 8 HD except for the dynamic stereo setup, some minor software interface differences and separate volume buttons. This also applies to the camera performance, so we are not satisfied with the sensor performance of the Tecno Spark Go 2024.
This phone produces unsatisfactory photos even outdoors, where details are missing and colors are washed out. Outdoor shots looked too soft, like an oil paint effect, and the camera struggled to control the effect like it did on the Smart 8 HD.
In low light conditions or at night, the camera has additional problems due to excessive noise and lack of clarity in the photos. This problem persists when shooting indoors under artificial lighting. Selfies are also not very attractive, because if the background is too bright, it can be blurry, and the lack of sharpness makes it even more difficult to take photos. Overall the camera is not the strong point of Tecno Spark Go 2024.
