How To Install Minecraft Mods

Minecraft users don't like being told what they can build and do in the default blocky sandbox. The hit game is currently the best selling game of all time and is unlikely to be released anywhere anytime soon. It's as quirky as it is addictive, and with Minecraft multiplayer and the ability to create your own Minecraft server, it's a great game to play with friends.

Fortunately, the philanthropic Minecraft community has created quite a few mods since the game's release in 2009, albeit with more difficulty and more Lego-like charm with each fleeting update. And thanks to the many specially designed mod launchers, getting started has never been easier.

We have instructions for installing Minecraft mods for every platform, whether it's a full mod for PC or a simple add-on for console players, we'll show you how to get the job done.

[ Author's note. This is an overview of installing Minecraft mods, not a complete guide. Installation may vary from mod to mod. So be sure to follow the download and installation instructions that are usually found online in the download options.]

Install Minecraft Mod on Windows

There are several ways to modify Minecraft , but the simplest and most popular method requires an application called Forge. Here's how it works.

Step 1: Visit the official Forge website and download the recommended version of the software. You can also install the latest version of Forge, however it may contain some unresolved bugs that will affect your ability to run some mods correctly.

Step 2: Download the mods you want to install from a trusted source CurseForge is a popular place with hundreds of great mods to choose from. However, not all mods are compatible with all versions of Minecraft or even Forge . Be sure to research the mod you're interested in to see if it's compatible with your software.

Step 3: Create a "Mods" folder in your Minecraft directory. Here is the destination address.

C: Users [your name] AppDataRoaming.minecraft

If the AppData folder isn't visible in File Explorer, click View at the top of the app, then turn on Hidden items .

If this is your first mod, there won't be a Mods folder in your Minecraft folder. With the Minecraft folder open, right-click in File Explorer and select New , then Folder from the drop-down menu. Name this folder "Change".

Step 4: Move the downloaded file to the mods folder.

Step 5: Start Minecraft , but first make sure your Forge account is active. Otherwise, your mod will not load properly.

That's all. As mentioned, there are plenty of other mod launchers out there besides Forge, like LiteLoader, so you can always look around if you don't like everything it has to offer. It's not the most popular app for nothing, though, and most new mods are usually compatible with the app.

Install Minecraft Mod on Mac

Mac users can follow steps 1 and 2 of the instructions above, although you'll need to follow these instructions for step 3:

Create a "Mods" folder in your Minecraft directory. Here is the destination address.

~/Library/Application Support/Minecraft

You can quickly access this folder by pressing Command + Shift + G. Alternatively, open the Finder , click Go on the menu bar, and click Options to navigate to the Library folder. Then open Support and then open Minecraft .

From there, right-click on that folder, select New Folder from the drop-down menu, and name it Change.

Mac users can now go back to steps 4 and 5 of the guide above.

Install minecraft mods on the console

Unfortunately, there are technically no mods for Minecraft on Xbox and PlayStation. Instead, players can access add-ons. Unlike mods, these addons are not free and are very limited compared to PC mods. That said, it's still better than nothing, and it's also incredibly easy to install.

Step 1: Launch Minecraft on your console and select "Marketplace" from the main menu.

Step 2: Choose a skin pack, world, texture pack, or collection pack.

Step 3: Use Bitcoin or credit card to buy add-ons.

Install minecraft mod on android

Unfortunately, real mods cannot be used with the mobile version of Minecraft , similar to console restrictions. Fortunately, you can use third-party applications such as add-ons such as Minecraft , BlockLauncher , and Mods for Minecraft , to customize the game to your liking. Here's how it works.

Step 1: Go to BlockLauncher and install the popular and useful application that is often used to download mods.

Step 2: Follow the instructions of the app as BlockLauncher will give you different instructions depending on your device.

Step 3: Go back to Google Play Store and download Mods for Minecraft PE. With this app, you can download and install your mods quickly and efficiently.

Step 4: Go to the search function and use it to search for the mod you want to download.

Step 5: Once you've found the mod that's perfect for you, click Install . This will automatically install the mod to the selected game.

Install Minecraft mods on iOS

Step 1: The first thing you need to do is install some Minecraft addons. It can be easily downloaded from the App Store.

Step 2. Follow the on-screen instructions to find and install add-ons

Modding Minecraft games is relatively easy these days. We think the great content you will get is definitely worth the time and effort you put into downloading the mods. We can assure you that you will click on at least one of the featured mods.
