Tecno Spark 20 Pro And Spark 20 Pro Plus Impressions: Ace Value Packages

In the battle of budget smartphones, the Tecno Spark 20 Pro and 20 Pro Plus may not be the most prominent options, but they still manage to pose a challenge. But will they be able to keep up with the competition? Let's see

Basically, the Tecno Spark 20 Pro and 20 Pro Plus are almost identical, barring chassis tweaks and minor changes here and there. Getting rid of the plastic backs of many of its predecessors really helped the Spark 20 Pro series. Both the phones have stylish curved frames with an attractive color selection. I'm a fan of Sparkling Sunset Blush, but Magic Skin 2.0 Green's eco-friendly (read: faux leather) options are also worth considering. Durability is not forgotten: the phones are water resistant IP53. The box also includes a protective case to keep your belongings in perfect condition.

The phones of this series use large screens and considering the price, it does not disappoint in this regard. The Spark 20 Pro has an LCD display and the Pro Plus has a premium AMOLED panel, but it's still very good, with vivid colors and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

One thing I want to point out about this screen is the punch hole. Whatever the reason, Tecno decided to copy the Dynamic Island integration and try to integrate it into the UI we've seen in recent iPhones. In these Tecno phones, it is used for simple tasks like charging tracking, which is fine, but it looks out of place on the Android version of the Tecno, especially since the hole is so small.

While the seemingly high-end finish has some glitz and glamour, what's underneath matches the asking price. Spark 20 Pro is powered by MediaTek Helio G99 and Pro Plus is powered by Helio G99 Ultimate chipset. Personally, I don't see any difference in data performance due to the supposed SoC upgrade in this latest model, but both phones have 8GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly. Multitasking is smooth and games run lag-free even in most 3D games, although of course none of them are at the same level as the most powerful Android flagships.

Although the camera systems may seem different, both the Tecno Spark 20 Pro and 20 Pro Plus have a 108MP primary sensor that captures sharp details and rich colors even in difficult lighting conditions. Both phones are capable in almost every situation, although they lack the real wow factor and don't compete with the best in the industry.

Tecno doesn't skimp on device add-ons. You get dual speakers that deliver immersive sound, a 5,000mAh battery that will last you all day, and a 33W fast charging cable that will charge these devices in no time. There's also a microSD card slot if you need a little more storage.

While the specs look great, there are significant trade-offs. None of these models have 5G, which is disappointing. The camera also lacks a dedicated telephoto lens, but at this price point, that's highly unlikely. What's not a problem is that I couldn't find any information about the software's update policy, which is a bit vague and a bit worrisome if you plan on keeping it around for a long time.

Tecno Spark 20 Pro and Pro Plus offer stunning displays, camera capabilities and amazingly smooth performance, all in a stylish and durable design. If you're on a tight budget but can't compromise on quality, these phones should be at the top of your shopping list. There's no denying that the Tecno Spark 20 Pro and Pro Plus are budget champions that punch above their weight. The only problem might be getting your hands on one of these phones, as the phones will only launch in Africa, Latin America, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
