When Is Galaxy Unpacked? Samsung Event Revealed
According to the leaked teaser, Samsung Galaxy Unpacked, where we will witness the presentation of the Samsung Galaxy S24 family, will be held on January 18 in Seoul, South Korea.
This was reported by Evan Blass, an experienced technology expert known as evleaks.
So the Samsung event starts at 3am KST on January 17th at 6pm KST in the UK.
You can finish your work, relax with a cup of tea and discover what Galaxy AI is all about.
The emphasis on the phrase "Galaxy AI" in the invitation suggests that this will be the main topic of the presentation. Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra phones are also expected to appear here.
What is Samsung Galaxy AI?
Last November, Samsung released a Galaxy AI article to give you an idea of what to expect.
"Galaxy AI is our most comprehensive intelligent offering yet and will change the way we experience our phones forever," said Wonjun Choi, head of research and development at Samsung Mobile eXperience Business.
The only example we've heard of so far is the AI Live Translate Challenge.
"Audio and text translations appear in real-time as you speak, so calling someone in another language is as easy as turning on subtitles while streaming," Samsung said.
That sounds good, but it's also a natural evolution of translation and text-to-speech, which we've been doing long before anything was called "AI."
Evan Blass also revealed the full list of specifications of the new Galaxy S24 phones.
This partly explains why AI will be in the spotlight, as many key statistics about the Samsung Galaxy S24 family are well known.
Features of Samsung Galaxy S24
The leaked specifications suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S24 will have a 50-megapixel camera and a 6.2-inch display, which is slightly larger than the Galaxy S23's 6.1-inch display. The battery capacity is also slightly larger - from 4000 to 3900 mAh. And there's a familiar trio of cameras on the back.
Moving up a notch, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ will have a 6.7-inch display with a higher QHD+ resolution and faster charging. The battery is charged to 65% in 30 minutes, which is not typical for modern phones.
The more expensive Galaxy S24 Ultra supports Samsung's S-Pen stylus and replaces the aluminum sides with titanium sides. Titanium is a very light, strong and expensive metal used by Apple in the iPhone 15 Pro phones.
The Samsung Ultra series has more cameras than the lower categories and what Samsung calls Quad Telephoto cameras. It might look like it has four zoom cameras, but it's not. 2X, 3X, 5X, and 10X views consist of native and digital fields of view.
On paper, they might even offer a downgrade to the Galaxy S23 Ultra with 3x and 5x zoom instead of the 3x and 10x zoom that the Ultra offers today.
However, all these details will only be confirmed when Samsung Unpacked is released.
