The phone is said to be the first Vivo Y series 5G phone to be launched under Rs 20,000. Vivo Y56 5G is priced at Rs 19,999 in India for the only variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
Price-wise, the Y56 5G competes with devices like Redmi Note 12, Realme 10 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A14 among others.
The Y56 has a 6.58-inch 1080p LCD display with a waterdrop notch. There is a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The panel has a standard 60Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, you'll find a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor. This is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The phone supports virtual memory expansion up to 8GB (Vivo calls it Extended RAM 3.0) as well as microSD memory expansion via a hybrid slot. The display runs Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13. The phone is powered by a 5000mAh battery with 18W USB Type-C charging.

The Y56 has dual cameras on the back, a 50MP main camera and a 2MP camera for portrait or portrait photography. Vivo cites features like Super Night Camera Mode, Portrait Bokeh Flare and Professional Viewing System as key product features.
The design of the Y56 looks elegant and minimalistic. You get a plastic case with flat side edges and two attractive colors to choose from: orange shimmer and black engine. The phone weighs only 184g and measures around 8.15mm. Biometric information is processed by a side-mounted fingerprint reader. You also get Face Unlock capability on this phone.
Vivo says the Y56 will be available on its online store and all partner retailers starting today (February 18, 2023). ICICI, SBI and Kotak Mahindra card users will get up to Rs 1000 off on Y56 5G purchases.
