‘The Crocodile Of Wall Street Gets New Tech Job Despite Being Accused Of Crypto Laundering And Under 24hour House Arrest

Every January, LinkedIn is flooded with "New Year, New Job" messages.

And it turns out that even a crypto thief under 24-hour house arrest can get a new job, giving hope to anyone still looking for work amid the current recession.

Take Heather Morgan. He has many powers, including an economist, tech entrepreneur, columnist, CEO, rapper, and accused of stealing cryptocurrencies.

Now, according to court documents, Morgan is adding another position to his list: Morgan, also known by his stage name "Razzlehan," was hired by an unidentified tech company despite being reportedly under 24-hour house arrest.

A federal prosecutor on Tuesday granted Morgan's request to ease restrictions on his house arrest, allowing him to work three days a week at his new employer's New York office despite a proposed change from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The so-called "Wall Street crocodile" and her husband are accused of trying to launder $4.5 billion stolen from Hong Kong's Bitfinex exchange in a 2016 heist.

Morgan, who denies his guilt, was offered a job "as a growth marketing and business development specialist," his lawyer Yevgeny Gorokhov said in a lawsuit.

Although the government knows the identity of its new leader, this information has not been made public. Due to the court's strong interest in Morgan, Gorokhov asked the judge not to name the employer in order to protect her and their safety.

“This information was not recorded in this public file because Ms. Morgan was subjected to derogatory comments and harassment on social media due to the extensive media coverage of this case,” Gorokhov added.

Who is Heather Morgan?

According to Morgan's LinkedIn profile, where he describes himself as "a serial entrepreneur who loves helping CEOs win," he previously ran SalesFolk, an email marketing company for B2B startups.

Previously, he was the CEO of Endpass, an apparently defunct crypto wallet designed to prevent fraud, and contributed to the book Food Security and Socio-Political Stability by Oxford University Press.

Morgan has also been a columnist for Forbes , covering career and cybersecurity topics, and has also served as a motivational speaker. In 2019, he gave a talk at the Salon in New York on "How to get to anything with the help of social engineering."

He holds a degree in economics and international relations from the University of California and a master's degree in international development economics from the American University in Cairo.

But he is perhaps best known as a rapper and social media influencer. In the music video, set in New York City's financial district, he dedicates his song to "geeks, entrepreneurs, hackers, nerds, and all the other geezers who go after what they want." His most popular song, Versace Bedouin, in which he calls himself the "Wall Street Alligator", has been viewed over 300,000 times on YouTube.

Why was the Wall Street crocodile arrested?

In 2016, the Bitfinex heist stole 119,754 bitcoins. At the time, the value of the stolen cryptocurrency was estimated at around $72 million.

On February 8, 2022, Lichtenstein and Morgan were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the robbery. They were accused of trying to launder $4.5 billion worth of stolen bitcoins, of which $3.6 billion was seized by the authorities.

The U.S. Department of Justice called it the “largest financial forfeiture” in its history, emphasizing that “cryptocurrency is not a safe haven for criminals.”

“In a futile attempt to maintain digital anonymity, the defendants laundered the stolen funds through a labyrinth of cryptocurrency transactions,” Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said in a statement, adding that the Justice Department “can and will track money, regardless of its form.” . . . need to".

The Justice Department said that over 2,000 unauthorized transactions were used over 5 years to move stolen bitcoins and send them directly to crypto wallets, then distribute the funds between Morgan and Liechtenstein's financial accounts. The department reports that more than 94,000 bitcoins were seized from the couple.

The couple, who face up to 25 years in prison, have asked for a stay of the case to facilitate a plea deal. A hearing on the circumstances of the case is scheduled for January 27 in Washington.

Meanwhile, as Elizabeth Holmes, "Anna Delvey" and "The Tinder Scammer," Morgan has joined the roster of rising scammers to inspire Hollywood.

Emily in Paris star Lily Collins will play Morgan in the upcoming Hulu limited series Razzlekhan: Wall Street's Famous Crocodile .

According to Deadline, the series will also be executive produced by Collins, along with Charlie McDowell and Alex Orlovsky. The trio previously produced the Netflix film Windfall .
