UK Techno Legend Mark Broom Hosting Groove Sessions Night At Plymouth Sports Bar

Brix Lounge & Sports Bar, accessed from the Colin Campbell car park, hosts Groove Sessions.
The new event is hosted by Portuguese hardgroove king F. Tech and local hardgroove producer Ana Sonic, and will cement Plymouth's reputation as the UK's hardgroove techno capital.
The idea of Groove Sessions is not only about music. Promoters are equally keen to support west Plymouth businesses with delicious food at Portuguese restaurant A Taskinha every time F.Tech comes.

The Brix Lounge is sadly one of the last buildings standing on the Western Approach and will be demolished as part of the Millibey Regeneration Programme. However, on Saturday night the venue takes center stage for an unforgettable night of hard techno in an often forgotten part of town.
This style of techno was popular in the early/mid 2000s and many famous DJs played funk, latin and samba techno at club nights and festivals all over Europe.
Fast forward twenty years: the popularity of hard groove is slowly fading in favor of black techno. However, Hardgrove has enjoyed huge popularity across the continent in countries such as Portugal, Spain and Slovenia and is now enjoying a resurgence.
According to Mark Brom, the term "techno" has changed a lot since its inception, and people's perception has definitely changed. He said: "In some circles it's very generic and safe, but if you look further you can find a lot of inspiration from a lot of interesting producers. Compared to twenty years ago, there are more DJs and producers and techno music has gone through many different eras and 2000- It seems that the beginning of the decade is coming back.
Mark's back catalog shows his versatility as a musician, from house style work with Riva Star (Star B) to a full IDM project with James Ruskin (The Fear Ratio). Lately he's been focusing on techno, with regular techno plans and the hugely popular Octatrack Instagram videos.
Great techno will always be on trend for Portuguese hard groover Piuste F.Tech. "Hardgroove is a very danceable style of electronic music," he said. "Modern techno disappoints me, but we need something different these days."
One of the most popular hardgroove producers in the scene, F.Tech has released on some of the scene's most respected labels including Invita Records along with Primus V and the Ryders. He has played internationally and headlined a tournament in Portugal last week.
A quick search for any classic techno track on Youtube will turn up tons of comments from people saying they miss the old techno style, and it was co-host Anna Sonic who inspired the Groove Session phenomenon. The debut EP on Invicta Records debuted at number 53 on the Beatport Top 100 dance chart, beating out several big names in Latin Pride.
He says this proves there is still a demand for this style of techno.
