Samsung Display has developed a tablet with an enlarged screen.
Speaking at an Intel Innovation event today, Samsung Display CEO JS Choi called the prototype the world's first "navigation" tablet. Thanks to a rollable OLED panel, it expands and can serve as a 13-inch screen. But with the press of a button on the remote, the tablet will expand to a 17-inch device and then return to its original 13-inch size.
When expanded or shrunk, the tablet's user interface will automatically adjust, giving the user more screen space to view content.
Samsung showed off the prototype during a speech by Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, who said he first saw it during a visit to the Samsung Display Lab in South Korea. We saw the screen unfold from the side of the tablet. . However, the Korean display maker has also created a second version of the prototype that extends the OLED panel on both sides of the tablet.

According to a company representative, Samsung Display is showing the prototype to computer and tablet manufacturers in the hope that they will take the idea and turn it into a real product. It's not clear how much it will cost, but it will likely be expensive.

"It's a bet we want to investigate," Intel Vice President Joshua Newman told reporters on a conference call. Market research also shows that consumers want the largest screen area of the same size as a laptop, he said.
The prototype appears to be LG's attempt to create a smartphone with a movable screen that can be expanded. In the case of LG, the company has created a device that fits in the pocket. However, Korean supplier LG did not release the smartphone after deciding to exit the smartphone market.
