Imagine a Test cricket scenario where a bowler bowls 21 consecutive overs in a single innings for the first time. This remarkable feat came when Bapu Nadkarni scored a stunning victory over England in the 1964 Test match at Chennai.
On January 12, 1964, the visitors witnessed a marathon of defensive batting as Ken Barrington and Brian Bolas took on Bapu Nadkarni, who scored a 131-ball unbeaten run in the series.
Bapu Nadkarni, among the infamous scoundrels in both history and fiction, from Michelangelo to Andrew Carnegie and even Ebenezer Scrooge, has earned a place in this hall of fame for his extraordinary performance on the cricket field.
