DJ Juan Mendez, Techno Producer Known As Silent Servant, Has Died

Legendary techno producer and DJ Juan Mendez, better known as The Secret Server , has passed away.

The cause of death is yet to be determined. He was about 40 years old; However, his exact age is not known.

According to The Guardian , Mendes' death was confirmed by an English representative .

Mendez was born in Central America and raised in Los Angeles in a family of Cuban and Mexican descent.

He became a DJ in the band "Kissing the Earth" when he was young. From 2002 to 2011 he joined the Sandwell District Collective, representing new techno acts. A major force in the Los Angeles techno music scene, Mendes has had a profound influence on the genre.

“I was never a punk. Always. I was mostly a new wave nerd,” he said in a 2019 interview. "But I believed in punk rock, the extreme dedication to what you do."

In the year In 2006, he started producing and releasing his own music under the name Vocal Server. In the year Her debut album , Negative Fascination, released in 2012, contained songs such as "Temptation and Lust", "Call of Desire" and "Stranger Attraction".

He has released several EPs, singles and collaborations throughout his career. After Sandwell District disbanded, Mendes formed his own label, Enthusiastic God.

A few months ago, in November, he released his latest EP, In Memoriam, on Tresor Records. However, three days before his death, he released his last recording, "Sampler 1 B1 (Regis Edit)" in collaboration with British musician Regis.

Many musicians mourned Mendes on X, artist Turk Dietrich called him "a talent and a great force in the world of electronic music".
