Move Over Garmin This GShock Looks Like The Best Rugged Smartwatch

If there's one segment of the tech market that's exploded out of nowhere in the past decade, it's smartwatches. Once a child's wonder, it now graces every wrist you see.

But if there's one group they're trying to piss off, it's traditional watch lovers. Whether it's a disdain for the hype of ads or simply a lack of wrist polish, the two sides are rarely seen together.

However, everything can change here. Check out G-Shock's latest smartwatch, the Casio G-Shock GPR-H1000, which takes the ever-popular Rangeman and gives it a modern, technological twist.

The classic dust and mud resistant design is now equipped with two sensors to monitor important health and fitness parameters. This includes a triple sensor that measures compass direction, altitude, barometric pressure and temperature.

This is combined with an optical sensor to measure your heart rate, an accelerometer to track the number of steps you take, and a gyroscope to accurately track your position. All this provides a comprehensive data set about your body.

This isn't the first time we've seen a G-Shock hybrid smartwatch. We've already tested both the Casio G-Shock DW-H5600 and the Casio G-Shock GBD-H2000 here at T3.

However, the introduction of this technology takes a step forward in the highly durable Rangeman series. In fact, I'd say it's set to challenge the best Garmin watches on the market to be the best, all-round watch on the market anywhere. We'll have to wait and get our hands on the Casio to find out for sure, but it certainly has some credentials worth seeking out.

Good news if you like the sound of it. The watch itself will be available on January 19th, so you won't have to wait long. Plus, it's really affordable. At £450 RRP, it's relatively in line with the Apple Watch range and less expensive than the Garmin Fenix 7.

Which one do you get and why does it make a difference? A square-rank comparison of G-Shock.
