This Mom Gave Her Baby The ‘Most Outrageous Name As An Experiment & Now Shes Stuck With It

Having grown up in a world full of Brittanys and Jessicas, I completely understand the desire to give your child a less popular name. But now names like Blaise and Bellamy are also very popular - so parents have to think outside the box. (Remember the childhood names of Elon Musk and Grimes: the word “terrible” is a thing of the past!

Journalist Kirsten Drysdale works for ABC's What the FAQ channel in Australia. She was pregnant with her third son when someone asked her, “Is there a name you cannot legally give your child?” Sure, she could do a little research or call the NSW Bureau of Births, Deaths and Marriages, but she wanted to know for herself what would happen if her baby's name was rejected. When her son was born in July, she named him “Meth Rule,” The Guardian reports.

In a video posted to YouTube, Drysdale holds his baby and writes "Meth rules Drysdale" on the birth certificate application. "OK. It's pretty simple," he said in the video. "And maybe that name won't be on the list, so now we wait."

The video then fast forwards five weeks and shows Drysdale presenting his official birth certificate. He said: “It worked. The Drysdale Meth Rule is official! "Can you imagine?

According to the Guardian , she said her husband tried to persuade her to agree: "We thought we'd come up with the ugliest title we could think of, assuming it would be rejected." not yet accepted."

Drysdale continued: "We chose methamphetamine so that no one would think it was a good thing when they saw the word." But we were wrong." And how wrong they were! No one would have thought that a name like "Meth Rules" would be approved and printed on an official birth certificate!

A spokeswoman for Births, Deaths and Marriages confirmed that someone had reviewed all the names and an "unusual name" had "sadly slipped through the cracks." They added that they have strengthened the name verification process and will work with the family to change the name. However, this is still noted.

A spokesman told the Guardian : "Names registered at birth will remain in the NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages Register forever," "Although the name has been officially changed."

Besides meth, there are other names you should not choose for your baby in Australia. This includes anything that is not of public interest, contains more than 50 symbols, symbols, or an official title or title such as prince, queen, or goddess.

In the US, there are slightly different naming laws - otherwise Nick Cannon would not have been able to name his daughter Power Queen. According to Dictionary.com, each state has its own baby naming laws, although most states ban names that are considered "offensive." In California and many other states, names cannot contain accents or diacritics (for example, Khloe Kardashian).

Other states such as Alaska, Hawaii, Kansas, North Carolina and Oregon allow certain foreign accents and letters on birth certificates, according to USBirthCertificates.com. In New York, first and last names cannot be longer than 30 characters, and last names cannot be longer than 40 characters. In Massachusetts, first and last names cannot be more than 40 characters long!

If you want to stand out with your baby's name, give birth in Illinois or Kentucky, where there are no restrictions.

Drysdale has not yet chosen a new name for her boy. “My wife said his nickname should probably be 'Speedy', but I'm sure he'll come up with a nickname that matches his real name and his personality,” Drysdale told the Guardian. "He's a really cool guy, a sweet little boy, so he doesn't do meth."

Baby Meta may soon have a new name, but one day he will have the ultimate trump card in the game of two truths and the lie that knows you. No one would believe that the official title is “Meth Rules”!
