Tecno Phantom V Flip Handled On Video Ahead Of Friday's Official Unveiling
Tecno will launch its second foldable smartphone under its premium brand Phantom on Friday. The first was a horizontally folding model called the Phantom V Fold. This new model is a flip phone aptly named the Phantom V Flip.
The official event will take place in Singapore, but the phone is also expected in India and Nigeria. In fact, Nigerian operator MTN is already taking pre-orders (well, it's more about registration than actual orders). The deal is valid until September 27, when public sales are due to begin (at least in Nigeria).
The Tecno Phantom V Flip is now available for pre-order in Nigeria.
The deal is that you deposit 100,000 NGN ($130 USD) and get 2 free designer perfumes and 70GB of data (this bonus is worth 100,000 NGN). These images will give you an idea of the design, but you can also check out the case manufacturer's leaked renders to see the phone from other angles.
Now you can also watch a short demo video. The most interesting aspect of the Tecno Phantom V Flip is that the company has opted for a circular external display in the middle of the camera bump.
In the video, you can see an always-on clock, an animated background image, and several shortcuts. We doubt this screen can run Android apps like other Flip devices, but it does work with widgets (see "Adding widgets" on the last slide).
The video also shows something we've never seen before: the inside of the main screen. It is said to measure 6.9 inches with FHD+ resolution and features a 1.39-inch smartwatch-sized external display. The phone is powered by a Dimensity 1300 processor (according to Google Play Console) with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The dual cameras around the top display have 64MP and 13MP sensors, and there is also a selfie camera on the inside.
Keep an eye out for the official launch of the Tecno Phantom V Flip on Friday.
