Essential Listening: The Best New Music Releases In August 2023 (week 4)

And the holidays at the end of the year (except for Christmas, of course)

But that's not a bad thing as it's almost September which will bring us new albums from Georgie Smith, James Blake, Romy, Olivia Rodrigo, Roisin Murphy and Mitsky. So it looks good!

Until then, we have tons of new tracks that will help you beat our hangover!

This week we've added names like Mathematics, Danger Mouse, Earl Sweatshirt, The Chemical Brothers, Mitsky, Hemlock Springs, James Blake, Shy FX, Hybrid Minds (read our latest interview here), Sven Vath and more.

Must listen: house and techno

Party Forever - Hannah Lange and HVRR

Hannah Lang is back with an upbeat, energetic techno track with some trance undertones.

We think Hannah has once again managed to bring tremendous energy to Eddie Murphy's 80s song of the same name. The Scottish star is sure to be emulating his continued recent success with 'Good Love' and 'Be The One' and seems just moments away from big festival hits.

Ideal for performances in small underground clubs, big warehouses and big stages around the world. Everyone will hear it at next year's events.

Tickets for the Hannah Lang concert can be purchased here :

Ben Hemsley Ibiza (Supports Hannah Lang) | Ibiza Rocks Hotel in Ibiza | Sunday 10 September 2023

"Boundary Brighton" (Hannah Lang, Ben Hemsley and others) | Stanmer Park, Brighton, Saturday 30th September 2023

What to Hear: Indie and Alternative

Jump Like A Stone - The Chemical Brothers ft. back

Grammy-winning ultra-experimental legend Beck lends his voice to The Chemical Brothers (as he did on Wide Open a few years ago), presenting ethereal vocals over an instrumental that mixes ambient sounds with sirens.

The track really comes to life as it builds up, then around 1:45 the rhythm and bass kick in. At this point in their career, it's amazing that the duo is still going strong and releasing as much new material as they have since the late 80's and early 90's.

Cardiff fans are in luck: Alexandra Head will soon be playing alongside Hot Chip, Errol Alkan and many others. Buy one of the last tickets below!

Essential Listening: Drum and Bass and Jungle

If Love Can Save You – Hybrid Minds feat. wenby

Described by Hybrid Minds' Matthew as "my favorite song we've ever written", If Love Can Save You is a warm bass ballad with piano and soulful vocals.

But if you pay attention to the lyrics, it's actually a painful piece about suicide. Beautiful and individual, no wonder Hybrid Minds and the audiences who performed it loved it.

If you're looking to play to a large audience, you can catch Hybrid Minds across the UK in the coming months. Check out some of the upcoming shows below.

MOUNTAIN-GOTTS STREET PARK FORT. ANNIE

Leeds-based trio Gotts Street Park have produced and written for a range of artists including Kali Uchi. Their debut album "On the Inside" will be released in October and the mountains will see what could happen.

ENNY, who you may know from Peng Black Girls , is a London-based rapper who has been influenced by a variety of influences, including jazz and gospel. He combines silky smooth vocals with brooding, brooding lyrics on this mellow neo-soul track.

If you like smooth, soothing sounds that lift your spirits, book your first appointment at Gotts Street Park on October 13th.
