YouTubes Testing Free TVChannels!

According to the Wall Street Journal, YouTube is developing ad-supported free-to-air TV channels that feature content from select media companies. Roku's live TV channels will become a "hub" where you can choose what to watch, similar to services like Pluto TV or built-in TV services from brands like LG, Vizio and Samsung.

According to financial reports from Roku and Vizio, this concept of generating more revenue from ads and subscriptions than hardware sales has been part of the successful business strategy of several other companies in the industry. According to the latest stats, Vizio makes an average of $27 per user and Roku makes $44 per user.

The tests were confirmed to the magazine by an unknown YouTube representative, and according to reports, the feature could become popular this year. The company appears to be partnering with Lionsgate and A&E, which own channels such as Lifetime, FYI and History.

In 2022, YouTube showcased its expertise in delivering ad-supported premium content by adding ad-free TV shows to its library. He did the same with cinema for a long time. Together with Pluto TV, the company launched free channels on the Google TV live page last year.

The YouTube TV subscription model allows for inclusion and viewing similar to traditional TV networks. According to YouTube's July announcement, YouTube TV has five million subscribers. The YouTube TV name can be used to advertise free channels.

The trials come at a time when many other streaming services like HBO Max, Peacock, Disney Plus or Netflix are launching more affordable or ad-free plans.
