This Flagship Phone From Tecno Has A Retractable RearCamera
Tecno, a relatively unknown smartphone brand that loved pocket cameras at the time, released a phone with a decent lens on the back. Dubbed the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro, the phone features a 50MP portrait camera with a large f/1.49 aperture, a 65mm lens and a 1/1.3-inch camera sensor at the bottom.
While the Tecno has a portrait camera, it offers a 2.5x hybrid zoom but lacks optical image stabilization at the bottom. But Tecno says the larger sensor size, larger aperture, and higher pixel density allow the entire system to collect more light and produce crisper bokeh in photos. Tecno is not the first brand to adapt to camera technology.
Oppo teased a working camera module a year ago but has yet to launch it in consumer phones. Tecno launched Oppo with a completely new approach. The only worry is that, like the pop-up cameras on phones like the OnePlus 8 Pro, the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro's camera will be a maintenance nightmare due to the fragile moving parts underneath. SlashGear spoke to Tecno to explain the durability of the camera technology.
Interestingly, the Tecno Phantom X2 Pro is not a single-stroke car. The 50MP rear portrait camera is paired with a 50MP main camera and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. For selfies, Tecno equipped the flagship with a 32-megapixel front camera. On the front is a 6.8-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a round notch.
Tecno has rounded out its latest offering with the MediaTek Dimension 9000 processor, an octa-core SoC based on a 4nm process. The tri-cluster architecture has one ARM Cortex-X2 core for heavy tasks, three ARM Cortex-A710 cores, and four ARM Cortex-A510 cores for light tasks. The MediaTek chip is paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
The light is powered by a powerful 5160mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging. But there is no information about support for wireless charging. Tecno offers the FOX X2 Pro in Stardust Gray and a special Mars Orange that has a faux leather texture. The Tecno Phantom X2 Pro sells for SGD 3,499, or $930 at current exchange rates. However, with the company targeting Asia, Africa, and Europe, this flagship phone won't hit store shelves in the US anytime soon.
