The good news is that it looks a lot better than the last time we saw it in December 2021. There's a lot to see with this one. A 5G-enabled version will be available in early 2023 through Verizon on Wi-Fi for just $399.99. It supports ultra wideband networks and networks up to 6 GHz from the operator. Razer follows the Steam deck reservation model where people pay $5 to reserve the Edge.
It is a good device for Xbox Cloud Gaming or Nvidia GeForce Now cloud gaming. According to Razer, Edge supports up to 144 frames per second via Steam Link when streaming PC games locally. The Edge runs Android 12 on a Qualcomm G3X Gen 1 chipset, although it's more of a 6.8-inch tablet than an all-in-one portable (like Logitech's G Cloud Gaming) like that Concept that came out a few months ago. It can be removed from the console. By the way, this is the most functional Kishi V2 Pro that includes touch controls and a 3.5mm headphone jack. This gamepad is currently not sold separately. Currently only available with Edge.
The tablet's body has its specs, which include a 6.8-inch FHD Plus (2400 x 1080) OLED display with a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz. In addition to the G3x Gen 1 chipset, Qualcomm's "Gaming Setup" should be included add some speed with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and there's 128GB of storage. It features Bluetooth 5.2 for connecting headphones, as well as Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, making it compatible with the fastest routers available like Google's Nest Wifi Pro, Eeros Pro 6E, and more.
The Edge has a front camera so you can stream to Twitch or jump into a Zoom call while gaming. In terms of battery life, Razer has stated that the Edge will feature a 5,000mAh battery. So if you're just using it for cloud gaming streaming, it might take a while.
While the Edge isn't the first of its kind, you probably won't have a problem paying $399.99, which is $50 more than a lower-spec Logitech G cloud gaming handheld. If Razer's 144Hz display and powerful chipset perform well when streaming games to the cloud and playing Android games, I think the Edge will win when it launches in early 2023.
Wi-Fi Edge is available on the Razer website and RazerStore, while 5G Edge is only available on Verizon.
