QPR is apparently short for Quarterly Platform Release, which Google first introduced with Android 12. These aren't full system updates, but they do bring some changes to the Pixel phones and premium phones you'd expect to get. . The second beta is packed with big changes, so let's dive into it.
While we don't have official changes from Google yet, avid testers, especially Esper.io's Android expert Michel Rahman, have been able to see some UI changes and updates in the new Android 13 QPR1 beta 2.
Perhaps the most obvious changes are the notification shade on the lock screen and changes to the audio player. The progress bar loses the scroll points in favor of a vertical line. Some believe that this reduces the chance of sperm moving in this way.

Another important and welcome setting introduced in Android 12 is re-entering battery usage statistics instead of the last 24 hours. This makes it easier to evaluate when using apps that are particularly heavy on the battery. From phone charge to charge, the 24-hour view gives you a rough estimate, showing more usage patterns than battery stats.

If you don't usually fully charge your phone, the new user interface makes it easy to view a multi-day history of battery stats with daily and hourly graphs shared by a Twitter user.
There's also a new fingerprint animation when using biometric authentication, as spotted by the Google News Telegram team. It's a small tweak that adds a check mark next to your fingerprint after authentication is complete, clearly showing that you've done your job right.
In preparation for the predictable back gesture in Android 14, the Settings app supports a new home screen animation with back gestures. Google currently hides this option behind developer settings, so if you want to try it out yourself, you'll need to explicitly enable animation preview first .
Smaller changes include a new description of the system language page that tells you how you can benefit from adding multiple languages to your system. There is also a setting on the screensaver selection screen. The Show More Info toggle allows you to add more details to your screensaver, such as the time and weather.
Reddit users reported that a bug that affected the review view has been fixed. Previously, even swiping would completely close the app you see in Recents. Now you need more deliberate actions, which will make it more difficult to accidentally activate. It also appears that Google has tweaked the latest vibrations and unlocked the screen a bit.
There are other features that haven't reached the beta tester audience yet, but Mishal Rahman was able to run screens and dive into them in more detail. Google continues to work on Clear Calling, which aims to reduce background noise during phone conversations. The company is also making improvements to the Security Center, a new place to scan for viruses and check device settings that encourages best practices like screen locks. These two features are not working yet and are not available to the user.
