Vivo has unveiled its second foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold+. This phone is a direct successor to the Vivo X Fold released earlier this year. In fact, it is very similar to this phone in many ways.

The Vivo X Fold+ is official, with several improvements over the Vivo X Fold.

Think of the Vivo X Fold+ as an updated version of the Vivo X Fold. They share a common design and quite a few specs, but there are significant improvements here. Vivo updated the SoC, increased the charging speed and more.

Let's focus on the most notable improvements first, shall we? The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 replaces the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It's a massive improvement in many ways, but the biggest one is battery life. Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 proved to be much better in terms of power consumption.

The phone has a better SoC, bigger battery and faster charging.

This phone has a 4730 mAh battery compared to the 4600 mAh battery of its predecessor. This is an increase in battery capacity, and the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 should deliver much better battery life.

Vivo has also increased wired charging power from 66W to 80W, while the phone supports 50W wireless charging. The phone also features a vegan leather back and a new popular red color.

This is what is fundamentally about change. The Vivo X Fold+ retained the same screen, camera setup, and more. Read on if you want to know more about this.

It has two AMOLED LTPO panels with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The main panel of the phone uses an 8.03-inch E5 AMOLED LTPO display with a resolution of 2160 x 1916 pixels. It has an adaptive refresh rate that can range from 1 to 120Hz, and it also offers a 140Hz touch sampling rate in game mode. It uses SCHOTT Ultra-Thin Flexible Glass (UTG) as protection.

The second screen is a 6.53-inch FullHD+ (2520 x 1080) panel. The E5 is also an AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, offers a 240Hz touch sampling rate in Game Mode, and a SCHOTT Xensation α (Alpha) protective glass.

The device comes with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256/512GB UFS 3.1 flash storage, only available in China.

Inside there is space for two SIM cards, as well as stereo speakers. Here Vivo used the CS43131 Hi-Fi chip. 5G is included and Bluetooth 5.2 LE is also part of the package. 10W reverse wireless charging is also offered.

It has the same settings as its predecessor camera, with additions from ZEISS.

What about cameras? On the back, you'll find a 50-megapixel main module (Samsung GN1 sensor, f/1.57 aperture, OIS, ZEISS T* coating). The second camera is a 48MP ultra-wide module (114-degree field of view, Sony IMX598 sensor, f/2.2 aperture). The third camera is a 12-megapixel portrait module (Sony IMX663 sensor, f/1.98 aperture). The fourth and final unit is an 8MP periscope camera (f/3.4 aperture, OIS, 5x optical zoom, 60x super zoom, laser autofocus). The company also introduced the V1.

A 16-megapixel (f / 2.45) selfie camera is located on the main screen and on the side. Speaking of which, you'll also find an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under the screen of every phone.

The Vivo X Fold+ measures 162.01 x 144.87 x 6.28-7.40mm when unfolded and 162.01 x 74.47 x 14.57-14.91mm when folded. It weighs 311 grams, so it's not the lightest folding option.

Not yet globally available

Vivo X Fold+ is available in red, blue and black. Its price in China starts at 9,999 yuan ($1,398) and will go on sale on September 29th. Worldwide availability is not yet known. If this phone is not available globally, its successor most likely will.
