Android Owners Are Less Clumsy Than IPhone Owners, Study Shows
A study by Comparemymobile shows that iPhone owners are more prone to damage their device. On the other hand, Android owners are a bit more conservative.
Smartphones have become an integral part of our lives and we carry them almost everywhere, even in the bathroom. There are many ways to protect your device from impacts, such as buying a suitable case or using screen protectors. But sometimes damage to the device is unavoidable.
Android owners tend to put their devices at less risk, according to a report from Comparemymobile. This hub looked at tweets from the past 12 months, such as "start", "break", "hack", "spill", etc.
The results reveal some interesting facts for Android and iOS owners. Comparemymobile reports that most of the cracked phone tweets analyzed are from iPhone owners. Additionally, 2.1% of iPhone owners reported dropping their phone on their head, compared to 0.9% of Android owners. iPhone owners are 2.4% more likely to drop their phone in the toilet and Android owners are 1.3% more likely.
However, Android owners are 1.8% more likely to drop their devices in water. They mainly use rice to dry the phone.
It is interesting to know which cities are the most unpleasant. According to the report, Rio de Janeiro, New York and Las Vegas are among the three most unpleasant cities in the world. Phone owners in Las Vegas tend to drop their phone on the kiosk, while owners in Los Angeles are more likely to drop their phone on their head or face.
Also, Glasgow is the worst city, with just 6.3 accidents per 100,000 residents. However, the phone is likely to fall into water.
Comparemymobile said it removed tweets containing the words "call" or "alert" to ensure the tweets were as specific as possible, so they only found tweets about a physical accident. This exam takes place from August 2021 to August 2022.
