Sven Selka, behind the Inhuman label, brings death, cyberpunk and industrial sounds to audiophiles around the world. His latest single, "Antimateria", released on July 28, is no different from the tracks
Post-apocalyptic beats, dark bass, mechanical drops, synth stacks, industrial techno and more define it best. The release marks a departure from its former moniker, Code: Pandorum, which focused exclusively on harsh and brutal dubstep. The project began when he was 16, but he moved away from the dubstep scene to gather other inspiration. He later became more involved in the techno and club scene, and "Unmateria" is the definition of his new musical term. Although the song started out as Vantablack's dubstep tune, it gradually morphed into a Berlin techno track.
"['Antimatter'] is a big part of the story I'm trying to create with my project," Selka said "I try to create a visual image in everything I do. This song is also meant as a metaphor for moving from real life to the dream state because that's what you always want to achieve: the things you dream about. That's the story I create with a project. Try, like a dream come true, or really perfect, for utopia or others. Dystopia people.'
His next album, Destination R , is evil and dystopian. The LP is a continuation of his genre-defying new music. The album will have a visual story that plays along with the final soundtrack. Selka added that the album's title track is her favorite song. Although he didn't think he would finish the song because he wasn't a fan, he managed to finish it thanks to his wife's mother, who is a painter, helping him draw visual representations and inspiration. He had to finish the course. He also communicated through Instagram DMs with audio dubs, which helped him create a six-minute song for the high-profile arrival .
The horror-inspired artist was first drawn to electronic music by hardcore and Gabi artist Angerfist's album 'Criminal Insane'. It coincided with his first love of dance music: beat songs. Selka says that he grew up on the hardcore music of Holland Gaber because his parents listened to it, and he was always inspired by the loud and powerful sound of techno. This style was introduced in his later albums.
The German trendsetter began his career at the age of 15 by posting music on SoundCloud. A French promoter offered him to play a show, but Selka thought he was too young. Two years later, the same promoter approached him about playing a show because people "wanted to see him." He then embarked on his first concert tour with the next show in Montreal. Indeed, Selka's journey towards becoming an Inhuman is a powerful one, and "Antimatter" epitomizes it best.
