Vivo X90 Series Claims To Bring The First AI Airport Mode: Report

Launched as a new flagship series in China in November 2022, Vivo's X90 series phones are expected to hit the global market on January 31. The Vivo X90 series includes the flagships Vivo X90, Vivo X90 Pro and Vivo X90 Pro+. According to reports, Vivo has officially announced that it will introduce the world's first AI airport mode with the launch of this series. The Chinese smartphone maker has announced that it has partnered with sou.com on an artificial intelligence engine that will help detect takeoff and landing events efficiently.

In the IT for Home report (via MySmartPrice), Vivo says this will lead to better, faster networks and a higher quality user experience. Vivo claims this technology will increase network speed by up to 79 percent. It doesn't affect performance, and the company says it saves 30% of energy during flight.

This technology is already available on Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro, both powered by MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC. As previously reported, the Vivo X90 series will be launched in global markets including India, with a January 31 launch in Malaysia. In Malaysia, the vanilla Vivo X90 is expected to be priced at RM3,699 (roughly Rs. 69,000), while the Vivo X90 Pro is expected to be priced at RM5,299 (roughly Rs. 99,000).

The configuration of the global variants of Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro is likely to be similar to the ones launched in China last year. Both the phones are expected to launch globally with a triple camera setup on the back developed in collaboration with Zeiss. A 120W charger is included in the packing box. The phone has a curved screen with a cutout in the top center to house the selfie camera and the V2 chip designed to speed up image processing and artificial intelligence.

The standard Vivo X90 may have a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 12-megapixel portrait sensor. On the other hand, the Vivo X90 Pro is expected to launch globally with a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 12-megapixel telephoto portrait camera. Both are expected to have a 32-megapixel front camera. The device is expected to run on the latest version of Funtouch OS 13 based on Android 13.

The Vivo X90 Pro+ is the only model launched in China with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Mediatek Dimensity 9200 SoC is expected to power the global variants of Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro. It should be noted that there is no official announcement from Vivo regarding the debut of the Vivo X90 series in Malaysia or other global markets.
