Tecno has entered the high-end smartphone segment with the launch of the Phantom X2 with 5G support. There are already well-known companies in the high-end segment, and Tecno is known for selling affordable phones. Therefore, it will be very difficult for the brand to convince users to buy its flagship instead of those offered by OnePlus or Samsung.

The company has announced that buyers of the new Tecno Phantom X2 will receive a free upgrade to the brand's next flagship. However, this offer is not available to everyone. Tecno has confirmed that those who reserve the phone will be eligible for the offer and only the first 300 customers will receive it.

The first 100 Amazon pre-orders and 200 Touchpoint retail orders will receive a free upgrade to the Tecno Phantom X3 when the phone arrives in India. The company's strategy is to attract new customers and encourage people to take advantage of their premium offerings, which can be very difficult for a brand due to fierce competition.

Tecno Phantom X2 is a great mid-range phone priced at Rs 39,999 in India. There are no bank offers for this phone, but people can use the exchange offer to get the device cheaper. It is equipped with MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset based on 4nm process, so it should be more power efficient than the previous version. This version uses UFS 3.1 storage instead of the new UFS 4.0 solution we'll see in new high-end phones this year.

The device resembles one of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphones due to the design of the phablet. The back is completely different, with a triple rear camera in a rectangular module. The flexible 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED display is protected by advanced Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The panel has been upgraded to 120Hz, which has become the standard for high-end phones.

Details on whether this device has an IP68 waterproof rating are not yet available. It is priced around Rs 40,000 so we don't expect this phone to have a premium IP rating like other phones. The 5G phone is said to have a bulky design, which can make it difficult to use in your hand.

Tecno Phantom X2 has a very large battery under the hood. It offers a 5160 mAh unit. The company has included support for 45W fast charging and ships the same fast charger in the retail box. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy S21 SE, it also doesn't support wireless charging. The rear camera includes a 64-megapixel main sensor with OIS support. People who are skeptical about the camera performance of this phone can check out the review on YouTube.
