A few days have passed since the leak of the Samsung Galaxy S23, but that's not all. recent rumors suggest that all three models in the lineup will have internal storage options starting at 256GB, up from last year's 128GB. .

This comes from frequent tipster Ahmed Kwalder (via SamMobile ), who also predicts that the Ultra model will be available with 512GB and 1TB of internal storage. At least this source doesn't mention premium versions of the standard and Plus models.

We've also noted 8GB of RAM for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus, and 12GB of RAM for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, though previous leaks suggest that an Ultra variant of the phone with 8GB of RAM is also in the works : this

Configuration options

The Galaxy S22 is available with 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, just like the Galaxy S22 Plus. As for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, it's available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage, giving you maximum configuration options.

According to this latest leak, the 128GB variant will be removed for all three phones without adding any other variants. 8GB of RAM (with a 12GB option for the Ultra) will also match the 2022 phone.

So while it's technically a free upgrade, if the Galaxy S23 phones have the same starting prices as their predecessors, Samsung is cutting back on the options available for the lineup this year.

Analysis: Internal storage is still important

With so many apps now using streaming technology, internal storage options may not be as important as they once were, to the extent that Netflix, Spotify and others pull all their content from the cloud rather than your smartphone.

However, the more space the better, especially since apps like Netflix and Spotify can cache video and audio offline when you don't have Wi-Fi. Then there are podcasts, photos and videos you make yourself, and apps and games that get bigger and more complex.

In short, 128GB is starting to seem small for the initial setup of a modern phone, although many still start with it. This year could be the year that 256GB and more become the norm, but since Apple still offered 64GB on the iPhone 12, it may take a while to catch up.

We still miss the days when phones came with a memory card slot that allowed users to add more memory when needed. That option is mostly gone, but the addition of 256GB to the Galaxy S23 would be welcome if the prices are right.
