There are plenty of smartwatches out there that offer wellness features to help with things like fatigue. However, Citizen's just-announced smartwatch has something the others don't: NASA and IBM Watson technology.

At CES, Citizen announced the release of a new version of the CZ Smart smartwatch. The new smartwatch comes with a unique AI "self-care advisor" that works with the company's new YouQ app.

The most exciting thing about this unique health app is that it's built in IBM Watson Studio and uses NASA technology. According to Citizen, its app uses IBM Watson to analyze a user's chronotype (a person's preferred sleep and wake times). This is done over seven to ten days by processing sleep data and alarm results.

Alertness scores are obtained using a specially designed alertness monitoring test that uses the consumer version of NASA's Psychomotor Task Alertness Test (PVT plus). This test was originally designed to determine the mental acuity of astronauts and was developed by the Anti-Fatigue Laboratory at the Ames Research Center. Citizen explained that its alert tests are "short, gamified and can be run every day to measure user alertness.

The YouQ app is said to use this data to learn more about your pace and habits so it can recommend personalized "Power Fixes". These energy solutions are suggested actions and actions users can take to eliminate fatigue, improve alertness, and build better habits.

Citizen says the YouQ app will only work for second-generation CZ smartwatches. So if you own a first generation CZ Smart watch, you're out of luck.

The new CZ Smart watch will have a sporty and casual model. The sport model will come with silicone or metal straps, while the casual model will come with mesh, link or silicone straps.

If you're looking to pick one up, Citizen hasn't revealed a price for the gadget. However, the device is expected to go on sale in the US in March.
