Xiaomi India CMO Anuj Sharma shared an open letter on Twitter, thanking fans for making the brand's Redmi Note series a huge success in the country. The letter contains subtle references to Xiaomi, or rather the upcoming launch of Redmi.

For starters, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus has been confirmed to launch in India with a 200MP OIS primary camera. It should be bundled with other models, but overall, the Redmi Note 12 series will have relatively fewer models compared to the much-repeated Redmi Note 11. Not only that, there is another big change in store.

The launch of the Redmi Note 12 series phones in India is not subsidized to cash in on the user interface that Redmi phones have known since the Redmi K20 days. Simply put, the prices of the Redmi Note 12 series phones in India will be more realistic (perhaps closer to or slightly higher than their prices in China) and not as surreal as in the past.

It also means that Xiaomi doesn't have to replace its Redmi phones to sell them at a certain price, such as the Xiaomi 11i and Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge, originally called Redmi Note 11 Pro and Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus. This is probably a big reason why the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is coming to India to dispel rumors that Xiaomi might launch it with a different name, say the Xiaomi 12i or something similar.

According to the letter shared by Sharma, the move to introduce fewer models in the Redmi Note 12 series and eliminate ad-based monetization appears to be driven by customer feedback.

“With all your data, we are relaunching what was intended with the Redmi Note. It also means correcting our past mistakes,” Xiaomi India said. “In the Redmi Note 12 series, this time we will focus on fewer models based on your feedback and each will stand in its own segment. We will be there. They are asking us to remove monetization for each interface in exchange for subsidies for better experience and quality. We listen to you."

Only time will tell if these changes will be limited to the Redmi Note 12 series or if the update will follow the same with future Redmi Note devices.

The launch schedule of the Redmi Note 12 series in India is not yet official, but according to reports, it could happen in the first week of January. As for the received model, the letter confirms that the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus will definitely be one of the upcoming models (note the 200MP OIS highlighted in the letter). Stay with us.
