Today, Oppo announced two new foldable devices in China, and the smaller one actually appears outside of the domestic market. The Find N2 Flip has the same clamshell design as the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and starts at 6,000 yen (about US$861), while its bigger brother, the Find N2, has a larger tablet-like form factor closer to the Galaxy Z Fold. It's getting close. 4 and start at 8,000 yen (about $1,148).

According to XDA Developers , the Flip will launch globally, but the regular Find N2 will remain in China, as before, the Find N. The Find N will be available in the European market in the first quarter of next year. It is not possible.

Let's start with the Find N2 Flip, as it's a device that some Verge readers may have picked up recently. The Galaxy Z Flip 4's most prominent selling point is its large 3.26-inch external display with a resolution of 720 x 382. It's significantly larger than Samsung's 1.9-inch external display, and Oppo's website advertises that it can be used. To display everything from weather to notifications and act as a camera viewfinder.

The internal screen is 6.8 inches with 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Oppo says it's rated for 400,000 folds, which means if you fold and unfold it 100 times a day, it thinks the system should last 10 years. It has a super thin glass cover which is said to help with durability and there is also a small hole for the 32 MP selfie camera.

In terms of traditional smartphone specs, the phone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 Plus processor with 8, 12 or 16GB of RAM and 256 or 512GB of storage. It combines a 50-megapixel main camera with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 4,300 mAh battery with up to 44W fast charging, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric security.

The Find N2 Flip is a completely new form factor for Oppo, but the larger Find N2 looks like a refinement of the Find N's original design. It still has a 7.1-inch internal screen, although the external screen is slightly taller this time at 5.54 inches. Oppo claims that the bezel is 37% smaller and 36% lighter, the bezel is 60% narrower and the screen is 34% lighter. With a total weight of 233 grams, Oppo says the Find N2 is "the lightest foldable device ever," according to XDA Developers .

Like the Find N2 Flip, the Find N2 is rated for 400,000 folds (up from 200,000 on last year's model). It has a 32-megapixel punch-hole selfie camera on the top left corner and three rear cameras (50-megapixel main, 48-megapixel ultra-wide and 32-megapixel telephoto). It is powered by Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor and its 4520mAh battery can be charged up to 67W fast.

It's an impressive set of specs, which makes it all the more disappointing that a global version of the Find N2 isn't planned (at least for now). This makes the Magic VS the only manufacturer to compete globally with Samsung's tablet-style foldable devices when it launches globally next year.
