Vivo Is Already Set To Launch Its Second Foldable Phone

Vivo X Fold + will be a small update of the original model.

Samsung dominates the high-end device market, but it doesn't necessarily have the best devices on the market. Oppo, Huawei and other Chinese companies have released much more attractive foldable phones, but they are only available in a few markets. Vivo picked up on the foldable craze with the launch of the Vivo X Fold in China in April. It's been less than six months since the BBK-owned company is gearing up to launch its successor: the Vivo X Fold+.

POLICE DAY VIDEO FOR ANDROID

Vivo has confirmed in a post on Weibo that it will be launching the X Fold+ on September 26 (via GizmoChina) at an event scheduled for 7 p.m. local time. The ad is accompanied by an image showing the design of the foldable phone. It also confirms that the company will launch the phone in a new red color this time around.

Vivo X Fold+ will not be a radical upgrade of X Fold. An AnTuTu list of the device has already appeared on the network, confirming its main characteristics. The biggest upgrade will be the move to a faster and more power efficient Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip. This should improve battery life and improve consistent performance. In addition to the latest Qualcomm chip, the Vivo X Fold+ will come with 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage and will run Android 12 out of the box.

There is no need to update the cover and flip screen. Thus, a 6.53-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED panel should perform the functions of the display cover, while opening the device reveals a foldable 8.03-inch LTPO 120Hz OLED display. Like the original model, the X Fold+ is expected to feature two ultrasonic fingerprint scanners, one built into each screen. The battery capacity is rumored to be no more than 4600 mAh, although it can be charged up to 80W. The 48MP ultra wide-angle lens, 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and 8MP periscope camera with 5x zoom should remain unchanged.

As with the original X Fold, don't expect Vivo to launch the X Fold+ outside of China.
